In a certain village lived a hunter who had made it his life's work to exterminate all the elephants in the area. This man was filled with melancholy and resentment, and having indiscriminately
exhausted his source of income, he had no choice but to sit at his doorstep, listening to old stories and watching time pass by. His spears lay discarded in a corner of his house, suffering the
indignities of oblivion and sorrow.
One day, the hunter couldn't bear his state any longer. He decided to journey to distant lands to continue his elephant extermination, an act that brought him immense pleasure. After much
walking, he stumbled upon the oldest of elephants, who, blinded by age, was bathing in a pond. Without a second thought, he launched one of his arrows, condemning the elephant to an
imminent death.
When news of this reached the elephant's daughter, she pleaded with the gods for the chance to transform into a beautiful young woman. This would allow her to avenge her father's death,
a request that heaven promptly granted.
After much wandering through the forest, the woman found the hunter. As it was night, she asked him for shelter, and seeing she was young and beautiful, he let her in. She asked him about
his profession, to which the ruthless man proudly replied, "To be the greatest elephant hunter humanity has ever seen."
The man returned the question, and the young woman confessed that she had left home with her father, but on their journey, they had fallen victim to a killer. She explained that her life had
been spared simply because the killer had ignored her presence, a stroke of luck her father hadn't shared, as he had perished instantly. This is a classic case where vanity and pride cloud
reason.
The next morning, as the young woman prepared to leave, the hunter stopped her, preventing her from exiting the house. Instead, he proposed that she marry him, arguing that they were
both alone in the world and could keep each other company. From that moment on, they began to live together.
One night, the young woman asked the hunter his secret to defeating an elephant. Swollen with pride, he revealed all his tricks and tactics. During the night, the beautiful young woman left
the cabin and ventured into the forest, resuming her original form. When the man awoke, he desperately searched for her. Instead, he found a female elephant. He drew his spear to attack
her, but in the blink of an eye, the elephant's daughter had annihilated him, using his own tricks to avenge her father.
