White papers on which, impetuous, branches of dark and luxuriant trees stand out. Among the leaves, the darkness is interrupted by delicate traces of coloured pastels which give them life and instil new energy. With this cycle of works Giulia Dall’Olio (Bologna, 1983) reached her creative maturity, paving a new way for her research.
From disturbances and interferences, these signs have become reassuring traces during the eye’s escaping journey, seeking a way out from the darkness and the depth of the dominant black.
If the sign and the technique change, the interest in the subject doesn’t. Luxuriant and quivering, the prominent vegetal element projects us into a lost paradise, into a forbidden and mysterious Eden which unsettles our vision and hides any possibility to see the horizon.
