‘PushMe PullYou (Divorce)’ / 2017 is inspired by the double-headed animal from the children stories of Dr. Dolittle (written by Hugh Lofting). The ambiguity of this fascinating creature is both tragic (because of his helpless body) and lucky at the same time: it can eat and talk at the same time without being rude…as the story tells.
The vivid sculpture made by aluminium and roe deer skulls glows with pinkish light and reacts to the movements of the visitors. It is an attempt to question the technical developments towards nature and to celebrate the human imagination. On the other hand (on more personal level) it could be seen as a symbol of the affective relationship between two humans…sweet, vulnerable and cruel, brutal at the same time!
