Joachim Bandau, Schwarzaquarelle 2006 [yellow], 0.76 x 0.56 m., signature recto center bottom. Framed by Bandau in ahorn/glass.
In 2005 Bandau made a delicious yellow 'spring' exhibition in the beletage space of Phoebus Rotterdam gallery.
In his watercolors Bandau usually uses two colors of black watercolor, which he also dilutes to a maximum. The subject of these works is - apart from the composition: light! In the years 2004-05 Bandau focused on yellow as the color of light. An extremely difficult task, because yellow colors tend to mingle and not be distinct in the end result. In this exeptional watercolor on Fabriano paper Bandau used two different yellow colors and a little black.
