"AMBULANCE HEAVEN" is inspired by Magen David Adom's (the Israeli "Red Cross") main ambulance garage in Holon – the place where ambulances go to end their lives of service, as well as by the artist's history as volunteer first-responder, and later as professional medic and ambulance driver. The exhibition features paintings combining references from the actual ambulance-garage, juxtaposed with references from Dutch sky painting, creating a mythical scene for this mythic, yet hidden and sometimes repressed part of societal life. On display are also personal objects used by Alter in the past such as uniforms, an instructional notebook from his first first-aid course at age 15, and other first aid utilities, as well as a short text by Hanoch Levin- Israel's greatest playwright, which was written two years before his death.
