De Schotse kunstenaar Susan Philipsz, die in Berlijn woont en werkt, werkt voornamelijk met geluid, film en performance. "Haar werk evolueert rond de poging om een moment van breuk in het dagelijkse leven vast te stellen, een plotselinge onderbreking van introspectie. Daartoe bouwt ze vaak een tijdelijke ruimte van intimiteit in een openbare context zoals een galerie of een supermarkt, waarbij geluid wordt gebruikt als een effectief middel om de luisteraar te bewegen."
