Niet beperkt door de kunstgeschiedenis en de traditionele manier van schilderen, nemen Linus Bill + Adrien Horni een andere benadering in hun kunstpraktijk door gebruik te maken van de principes van collage, fotokopie, reproductie en catalogisering als uitgangspunt voor hun schilderijen. Niet alleen de technische aanpak is anders dan die in de kunstgeschiedenis, maar ook het creatieve proces. Door catalogi als uitgangspunt te gebruiken, biedt het omgekeerde proces ruimte voor contemplatie en reflectie voor de kunstenaars tijdens hun proces van kunst maken.

Het Zwitserse kunstenaarsduo Linus Bill (1982) en Adrien Horni (1982) zoekt naar een herdefiniëring van de huidige beeldcultuur. In een tijdperk waarin afbeeldingen voornamelijk op een digitaal scherm bestaan, onderzoeken zij thema’s als het maakproces, de waarde, de uniciteit en de zichtbaarheid van beelden. Bill & Horni gaan in twee fasen te werk. Ze beginnen met het bepalen van een compositie door het maken van kleine collages van honderden beelden, zowel met de hand (collages gemaakt van papier, schaar, lijm en verf) als digitaal (scannen, kopiëren). Vervolgens vertalen zij de collages naar doeken van groot formaat, door eveneens verschillende technieken te combineren. De werken van Bill & Horni worden gekenmerkt door een gelaagdheid van materiaal en beeld.
