Dodi Espinosa (MX, 1985) is een interdisciplinair kunstenaar afkomstig uit het bruisende hart van Mexico-Stad, waar het kleurrijke tapijt van archeologie, sjamanisme en syncretisme zijn wereldbeeld en artistieke gevoeligheid vormgaf. Nu een Belgisch staatsburger, noemt hij Antwerpen zijn thuis. Zijn creaties omvatten onder andere performances, installaties, objecten, schilderijen en workshops. Elk met inspiratie uit de archeologie, sacrale kunst, pop- en inheemse culturen en zijn karakteristieke tongue in cheek.
Zijn werken hebben een plaats verworven in institutionele en museale collecties in zowel België als Nederland. Deze erkenning onderstreept niet alleen zijn reputatie, maar versterkt ook de interculturele dialogen die hij wil cultiveren.
De kunstwerken van Espinosa zijn meer dan alleen visuele expressies; het zijn diepgaande boodschappen en oproepen tot maatschappelijk ontwaken. Hij reflecteert op een groot aantal maatschappelijke uitdagingen, van geestelijke gezondheid en identiteit tot ras en seksualiteit. Zijn kunst fungeert als een brug tussen het verleden en het heden, tussen het persoonlijke en het universele. Als queer stem met een postkoloniale lens biedt hij een uniek persoonlijk perspectief, verlegt hij grenzen en zet hij aan tot diepere introspectie over onderwerpen die ons allemaal raken.
Terwijl zijn aanvankelijke werk zich richtte op objectgebaseerde kunst, weerspiegelen zijn recente inspanningen van de afgelopen jaren een conceptuele verschuiving naar sociaal experiment, installatie, performance en een meer collectief paradigma.

Dodi Espinosa had een solotentoonstelling bij Beautiful Distress, Amsterdam (2022). Hij nam daarnaast deel aan groepstentoonstellingen in M HKA (i.s.m. NICC), Antwerpen (2019), het Fries Museum, Leeuwarden (NL, 2020), W139, Amsterdam (2020) en Mu.Zee, Oostende (2019 en 2022). Zijn werk is opgenomen in de collecties van het Fries Museum, Mu.Zee, Museum van de Geest en de AkzoNobel art collection.
