SmithDavidson Gallery is de officiële galerie van de studio van Terry O'Neill met toegang tot de volledige collectie.

Terry O'Neill (CBE) was een Britse fotograaf, bekend om zijn foto's van de mode, stijlen en beroemdheden van de jaren 60 en 70. O'Neills prachtige en openhartige portretten van de beroemdheden en de cultuur van die tijd hebben bijgedragen aan het definiëren van het tijdperk en het bewaren ervan voor de toekomst. Zijn foto's tonen zijn talent om zijn onderwerpen openhartig of in onconventionele settings vast te leggen, dankzij zijn vermogen om op de achtergrond te blijven en discretie te betrachten.

Zijn scherpe fotojournalistiek van creatieve en politieke grootheden, vaak in hun meest onbewaakte en vroege momenten, omvatte onder meer Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, David Bowie en vele anderen. O'Neill, die een belangrijke rol speelde in de backstage-reportage, werkte meer dan 30 jaar nauw samen met Frank Sinatra en kreeg in 1963 exclusieve toegang tot de legende. Hij was ook te zien bij de Beatles en de Rolling Stones. Zijn andere onderwerpen omvatten politieke figuren zoals Winston Churchill en Nelson Mandela, hedendaagse iconen zoals Amy Winehouse en Nicole Kidman, vele leden van de Britse koninklijke familie, en alle James Bond-figuren van Sean Connery tot Daniel Craig.

Terry O'Neill ontving talloze onderscheidingen, waaronder de Centenary Medal van de Royal Photographic Society in 2011. In 2019 werd hij zelfs benoemd tot de Orde van het Britse Rijk (CBE) voor zijn verdiensten op het gebied van fotografie. O'Neills werk is te zien geweest op talloze solo- en groepstentoonstellingen wereldwijd in gerenommeerde galerieën en musea, bijvoorbeeld in de VS, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Nederland, Australië, Italië, Zweden, Frankrijk en Rusland. Zijn foto's zijn nu opgenomen in de collecties van belangrijke openbare instellingen, zoals de National Portrait Gallery en het Victoria and Albert Museum in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, de Rock & Roll Hall of Fame en het Smithsonian Institution in de VS, en de Elton John Photography Collection. Terry O'Neill overleed in november 2019, maar zijn nalatenschap leeft voort.
