Now that museum and gallery visits are out of the question, Jeannette ten Kate of The Art Connector brings art to your home. In The Not So Ordinary: Studio Visit she visits art that is even permanently behind closed doors: the spectacular lighting installation that Henk Stallinga made for Byzantium, the Rem Koolhaas-designed residential complex near the Amsterdam Vondelpark. Ten Kate talks to Stallinga about this special site-specific project and his art practice.
Henk Stallinga made a name for himself with large light and sound installations, in which his minimalist visual language draws attention to things that often escape our attention, such as the constant change of light. Stallinga's work was previously exhibited in the stairwell of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. His work has also been included in the collections of the MoMa, Fonds National d´Art Contemporain, Paris, and Louisiana, Copenhagen.
