ULTIMATE MINGLE is an installation consisting of painting, video game and sculpture. Finderup has developed a video game in which you fight against the art world seen through the eyes of an artist. You take on the role of an artist who has to fight his way up the hierarchy of gallery owner, curator, art collector, etc. in the best street-fighter way. The interactive format gives the viewer the opportunity to have an impact on the course of the action and at the same time immerse themselves in another character and another world. By handing over the fate of my digital alter ego to the viewer, Finderup hopes to give an insight into the position of the artist. The game is installed as a sculptural object in interaction with paintings. The installation harks back to the old TEKKEN games, where you could unlock a little story about your character when you won. Here you unlocked stories and knowledge about the characters you played with, which you otherwise didn't get to tell when your character jumped around and air-kicked others. Finderup uses the same method for her installation, and therefore the side stories of the characters you meet in the game will be shown on hanging paintings. The artist wants to show that behind every street fighter, artist and gallerist there is also just a human being, and Finderup shows digital works and physical works together to manifest the digital experience in the physical space. Analog and digital should not be seen as two different worlds, but rather different dimensions of reality that can contribute to each other.
The installation features a sculpture, a TV screen animation with an animated video game and 5 paintings.
