Charlotte Fogh Gallery is presenting two international artists – Louis Reith (NL) and Eske Kath (DK) - who both work with form, abstraction and a kind of inner and outer landscapes. For Art Rotterdam, they will be presenting new works; collages, paintings and 3D-relief works in wood and mixed media.
What they have in common is the technical accuracy and precision with which the works are executed. They both have an affection for the materials and their tactility; Ink, paint, wood, canvas, paper – all natural stuff, which is processed into a tightly combined sensory bombardment.
The shapes and colors drive us to think of the sun, moons, planets, mountains, landscapes, architecture and man's manipulation and striving to maintain, control and interact with the order of nature.
Both artists revolve around a retention of the present in the landscape, which is undergoing change throughout the world – they visualize our longing to put it on hold and our fear of the unknown. With the abstract forms and tight compositions, however, they reach beyond the immediate and narrative and create a universal understanding and cancellation of time and space.
