For the fifth edition of Ballroom Project, Irène Laub gallery will be presenting works by Stijn Cole, Michèle Magema and Tatiana Wolska. The fair will be organized during the upcoming Antwerp Art Weekend (18 – 21 May 2023) and curated by Ilse Roosen.
Ballroom Project is very keen to avoid the typical ‘art fair feel’. For that purpose, the concept does not work with separate booths, but rather with a young curator, who will build an exhibition concept based on the received submissions from the participating galleries, tailored to the specific dynamics of the exhibition space. The aim is to put together a project that straddles the line between art exhibition and commercial platform, between expo and sale, starting from an invited selection of like-minded galleries.
Since 2017, Irène Laub Gallery exhibits established and emerging artists in Brussels and in a selection of international art fairs. Our represented artists are actively committed to questioning social, political and architectural spaces. They present a very diverse body of work – including installation, video, sculpture, painting and drawing – and display pure and powerful aesthetics. The gallery is intended as an adaptable experimentation space, allowing the artists to stretch the boundaries of their chosen discipline, either by testing and distorting the physical frame of the work itself, or by exploring its significance in the social sphere.
