Lisette's interest lies in the idea that architecture produces a basic physical experience prior to an intellectual interpretation. By intensively observing the location and repeatedly walking through each room, she can experience the space both physically and intellectually. After studying the background of the building and the architect, a period of in-depth research into technique, materials and colour follows. This results in a series of works that reflect on the atmosphere, history and design of the building.

In this newsarticle Edo Dijksterhuis reviews the Big Art Exhibition and writes about the artworks presented: .. "The last two works mentioned can be found on the first floor, just like the great installation by Lisette Schumacher. She painted sloping and angular walls in colors designed by Le Corbusier. The French modernist would have felt at home in the brutally functional building where Big Art takes place, but also in the miniature maze that temporarily immerses inquiring visitors in pink, blue and yellow".
