From November 24 to December 1, ROOF-A will be at PAN Amsterdam, booth 88, with works by internationally and nationally known artists, by younger and established talent. Paintings, works on paper and objects in glass and wax. The selection is diverse and not limited to one medium or discipline, but even in that diversity there is a soft unity or universality hidden. The works selected for the fair are vibrant statements that directly claim their existence, distinct in technique and signature. They touch in a positive way, sometimes through research or subject matter, sometimes through material or composition, without sacrificing content or room for personal interpretation.
Strength, hope and imagination
All artworks bring a message to the viewer and are depictions of ideas that find their way through all kinds of materials. Aline Thomassen, for example, uses her colorful style to depict powerful female figures, in flowing watercolors and in large format. Thus she seeks encounters with the unknown and with the other. Hester Oerlemans responds to current events with spray paint and stencils. Her energetic performances bring abstract developments on the world stage back to the human scale. And Gijs Assmann's Maria/Madonna takes the form of the viewer and the environment: she shows the viewer herself and the environment as a source of strength and as a promise for the future.
