Shimmering with prismatic hues, reminiscent of the rare minerals that power our online lives, these objects remind us of the planetary origins of our digital devices. The work considers glass not only as a transparent interface, but as a living material, holding the uncertainty and complexity of our digital age.
Unlike the Offline Timer, this series retains tension within the form itself. Transparent structures refract prismatic colors, revealing the internal stress held in the glass. In close collaboration with glassblowers Sander van der Wal (Studio-05) and Marie De Bruyn, Nuyten developed a method to capture and maintain this unstable state - without triggering collapse. Each object is titled according to its weight, echoing the valuation of diamonds and contributing to more ethical alternatives.
