Upstream Gallery, established in 2003, is an international contemporary art gallery focused on radical, engaged, conceptual, and digital art, presenting pioneering and critical work by over 20 artists from the Netherlands and abroad. Having worked with artists focusing on digital media for over 12 years, Upstream Gallery has established a strong presence in the international digital art scene. The gallery presents a diverse program of solo exhibitions and group exhibitions featuring both gallery and guest artists, as well as online exhibitions of digital-native art.
Since 2015, Upstream Gallery has been situated in a monumental 17th-century city palace in Amsterdam's historic city center. The ground floor consists of two exhibition spaces, an office space, and a private viewing room that serves as both a project space and a private showroom.
