In this work, Pere Llobera explores the tension between the visible and the hidden. "Vitrina por Detrás y Chupa" reveals the back of a display case or cabinet—an angle that creates distance and raises questions. The brown piece of furniture obstructs the view, while a black leather jacket casually hangs over the edge. A thin cord with a small object dangles downward, subtly disrupting the composition.
Within the cabinet’s surface, there’s a small window with a reddish shape. What are we seeing here? A reflection, a lingering afterimage? Llobera’s layered painting technique—rough, material, and sometimes fragmented—adds physical intensity. The painting strikes a balance between realism and suggestion, between tangibility and abstraction.
By isolating an everyday object in an unusual position, Llobera plays with perception and meaning. "Vitrina por Detrás y Chupa" keeps the viewer at a distance, inviting interpretation: a scene that cannot be fully unlocked.
