In this work, Pere Llobera creates an image that is both tactile and elusive. A rough-painted passage seems to lead into an indistinct space. The painting feels heavy, dusty, like a forgotten place slowly dissolving. In contrast, light, almost cartoonish figures—playing flutes with gloves, as if they are playing themselves—stand opposite. A play of contrasts: solid versus floating, grey versus bright.
Llobera works with layering, not just in paint, but also in meaning. The scene feels like a memory that isn’t quite right, a moment just out of reach. He plays with perspective and tangibility, making the space feel both real and unreal.
Corridor and Flutes misleads the viewer. Is this a place or a projection? A representation or a vanishing point? Llobera leaves the answer open.
