Initially, Eudald de Juana Gorriz, with his work 'The Piano' the vision of two boys helping each other to reach for a piano that stands very high. The innocence of the children and their playing is something intuitive,
its imagination is not questioned. When we are young, you play and exist in the moment, you are present, and when we get older
we forget this and get stuck as adults. In the artist's opinion, we should not forget that life is about the here and now.
However, at the time when Eudald de Juana Gorriz started making this exact work, his thinking changed. When you look at both figures, you notice a difference in their size. The upper figure is much longer and finer, while the lower figure is more robust and solid. The upper figure
reaches for the sky and the infinite. Eudald de Juana Gorriz saw this as an analogy of reaching for a better world while being supported by another. The lower figure appears heavier and is also connected to the earth. This connection is reflected by the artist in the colours brown and rust.
As an artist, Eudald de Juana Gorriz believes that a sculpture lives in the environment where it is is placed, it is not a one-sided relationship but they influence each other. The colours he chose for this work are in relation to the background of the place. In the work 'Piano' by Eudald de Juana Gorriz, there is a visible connection between the sculpture and its nearby surroundings.
