Ode (2022) is a reclining outdoor sculpture made of 45 kg of post-consumer plastics. Thus Rotterdam-based artist Jan Eric Visser explores an ecology driven aesthetics respectful of the cycle of nature and life. The dynamic shape has fluid lines, its stubs punctuating continuity. Its frozen form seems like an interval in an ongoing process, advocating transformation and regeneration. Anticipating a new connection between man and matter, the piece is an ode to a sustainable future in which valuable resources are no longer incinerated as ‘waste’.
