NOKUKHANYA LANGA, Slow Fade, 2019
Nokukhanya Langa (1991) cuts the hair of visitors and makes a connection between hair cutting and painting. If it is not used, she installs the work as shown in the photo.
She makes paintings, for a large part and wishes to be the founder of Soft Political Abstract art, although she doesn't know yet what that looks like. At this stage her abstract paintings come rather often with somewhere a hidden abstract smile in it or are provided with
statements of people that surround her. Whether by a member of an academy jury or gallerist opinions are put upon Langa. She also paints tube-like borders on canvasses as if she wants to isolate these areas from the rest. Sometimes she ‘repairs’ her paintings with tape as a kind of band aids. Most probably all this has something to do with her Soft Political Abstract art.
Nokukhanya Langa: “Wherever something stands, someone will stand beside it.”
