Ria Wank has worked with analogue photography since 2014.
Alongside her exploration of light and shadow, she develops techniques that deliberately control how photographic chemistry affects light-sensitive paper. Central to her practice is the question of when and how developer and fixer react over time. As a result, image compositions evolve over the course of several months and only become fully visible through the final washing and fixing process. Her works are alive and maturing; the image surface remains in constant transformation, gradually growing into a new image over the years.
