Boilers is an ongoing series of objects in which reclaimed copper is combined with traditional glassblowing techniques.
The copper is sourced from discarded heating systems - including boilers, kettles and pipes - collected from metal yards. Each work develops in response to the materials at hand and the behaviour of the glass during the making process. This results in unique pieces, produced at a deliberate and measured pace.
The series ranges from lamp-like forms with an almost unfamiliar character to more restrained vases and sculptural objects. Together, the works reflect an interest in craftsmanship, material transformation and the meeting of organic and industrial elements.
