Part of the whole of a part
David Boon's work often starts from a cut-out, a detail that he cuts out with his graphic eye.
It is part of a larger whole that can already stand strong on its own. The detail exists as a form, despite the fact that it has been hidden for a long time, only now really.
FORM 3 originated from such a detail. It is about the power of a form, about composition, colour, variation, rhythm or counter-rhythm, structure, matter, feeling. If one of these elements is filled in differently, you also get a different experience of the form. David is looking for balance between all these elements, so that there is enough tension within the feeling you get. The composition, the grid, the system is his graphic view and the ratio, the emotion is filled in by the material, the hands and the small imperfections.
