Ilse Van Roy takes the archetypal form of the vessel as her starting point — an object that both preserves and gives. In her glass and mixed-media floor sculptures, she further distils this form to its essence, where the tension between inside and outside, between stillness and movement, becomes tangible. Light, in her work, becomes a sculptural element that activates the form and keeps it in a state of continual transformation.
