In Pepijns 'Cirque de Pepin' everything is possible. Owls having a tea ceremony on a boat or partaking in a dragon boat race.
Pepijns van den Nieuwendijks' work is play- and colourful, but never simple. His paintings and statues show intricate reflections on (art) historical backgrounds. Fairy tales, hymns, historical facts and mythology are recurring and entwined.
During various residencies in China he learned the craft of the ceramics. He researched the origins of Delfts Blauw ceramics in Jingdezhen and uses this age old techniques in his work.
Every work is a story on itself, sometimes based on historical figures like Christoffel, but also extinct animal species like the Dodo and the Mammoth.
