Kim van Norren’s painting process begins with selecting a text. These are often song lyrics, but Van Norren also draws inspiration from poems and speeches. It is important to her that she recognizes a personal experience within them. Once Van Norren takes the texts out of their original context and incorporates them into her work, they take on a new meaning. Form and color, combined with text, create a powerful and unique whole.
