Our new exhibition is an interaction between three artists who are not afraid to use colour.
In Bas Coenegracht's works, we see human figures appearing and disappearing. It is not clear who they are or what they are doing. They make you wonder what they are up to and what they are thinking. The works are a little unsettling, but very bright and colourful at the same time.
At the back of the gallery, we have 18 works by Jacqueline Machado de Souza from her series “In the Palm of my Hand”. Created on old printer paper with Sennelier ink, each work is a world unto itself. The works invite us to discover what the colours and shapes are; some resemble sea creatures, others look like fossils yet to be discovered, and in others we may recognize flowers.
The work of Bas and Jacqueline interacts with the work of Gabriele Fettolini. The series called "En Veto" is about the surface and the structure of that surface. With a monotonous colour palette, Fettolini shows us walls, waves, trees and surfaces that are wrinkled, scratched and/or show signs of ageing.
The exhibition runs from 4 September to 13 October.
To conclude the exhibition, we would like to invite you to the closing event on Saturday 12 October from 5 to 7 pm. You are welcome to meet Bas and Jacqueline in person and ask them to discuss their work with you.
