Gelzis’s works, rendered in black metal and blue fabric, stretch, bend, and flex as though they might

Deze sculpturen bestaan in een staat tussen de opvatting van de oude filosofen die naar de lucht keken en die beschouwden als de hoogste, helderste en meest zuivere van de sterrenhemel en de meer recente opvatting waarin de ruimte bedoeld is als een plaats van voortplanting van elektromagnetische golven, voor uitzending. blijven voortdurend in evenwicht tussen opening en limiet, omtrek en morsen. Het concept van een hemel begrepen als niet-toevoeging wordt vol verwijzingen en manifesteert zich in de structuur van deze werken die negatieve ruimtes afbakenen, echte aansporingen aan de hemel die van tijd tot tijd zijn gekleed als het land."

"De kunstwerken van Ģelzis zijn in principe stabiel in hun structuur, maar hun vorm is op een bepaalde manier in tegenstelling tot materiële stabiliteit en verwijst naar dynamiek en het moment van gestopt gebaar, beweging of actie. Misschien is het het ritme van diagonale en gebogen vormen of het feit dat het moeilijk is om de metalen lijnen van de sculpturale composities anders te beschrijven dan stijgen of dalen, ergens tussen mechanische en organische beweging, vrije val en nauwkeurig berekende bewegingsbanen."
