Both the paintings as the installations of Frederique Jonker are exceptionally colourful. The materials she uses consist of various layers, creating an accumulation of details in exquisite detail. In her paintings, she almost always incorporates fragments of texts that occur to her while she is working.
The titles of her works often refer to ancient Egyptian gods and to extraterrestrial beings, such as Blue Avians referred to here.
Frederique recently received the Audience Award of the Koninklijke Subsidie 2025.
