VOEBE DE GRUYTER, Battery, 2025
What started in 1996 with the exhibition 'Winterbeelden' in Galerie Eve'n & Yet / De Kunstbank VzW in Leuven as a conventional collaboration between VdG and a curator-initiator Herman Labro, developed - initially without De Gruyter's knowledge - into a complex game of fiction and reality. Twelve years later, Voebe discovered that Herman Labro regularly used imaginary artists in group exhibitions he organised. In 'Battery', VdG has portrayed seven of these artists as they - according to her - might have looked.
