VOEBE DE GRUYTER, 'Before the party', 2000
The air bubbles in the wine glasses shown do not only contain air. Voebe de Gruyter is convinced that parts of conversations the glassblowers had while working are contained in the bubbles. It is one of the many hidden phenomena that Voebe de Gruyter shares with the viewer in her work. Her ideas are close to semi-scientific theories, you could say.
The work 'Before the party' of Voebe de Gruyter, together with the two drawings (left: 'Long Life' and 'I thought it was a good deal', 2019 ) by Salim Bayri, is part of the group exhibition 'Peers and Pairs'. Still on display for a few weeks in Galerie van Gelder
