Spencer: Since my youth, I've felt a strong connection with birds. Growing up in the rural landscape of Essex, encountering a bird of prey was a rare and special event due to the agricultural practices of the 70s and 80s, which weren't conducive to their survival. As part of my degree, I authored and illustrated a book focused on the reintroduction of the Red Kite.
To gain firsthand experience, I ventured to Wales and immersed myself in the conservation center and release zone, closely observing these majestic birds. Fast forward to 2023, and it's truly heartening to witness the thriving population of Red Kites. During the spring of 2020, I had the pleasure of observing five Red Kites gracefully dancing around the ancient church tower in St. Buryan—a rare and joyful sight in West Cornwall.
