The body of works within “A wistful affection” is a research-driven project that delves into reflection, distortion, and perception. Using PVC plastics and mirror foil on a mechanical base to creating a unique reflection of its viewer. Our bodies take on different forms when standing in front of it, as do our perceptions of who we are. The bend created is synonymous with ‘Warp’. This distortion serves as a metaphor, highlighting how our minds interpret sensory information to understand our surroundings.
One of my objectives is to play with reflections and observe how people react to them. Having an entire wall of a distorting mirroring surface presents a greater challenge to the audience's perception of reality and their surroundings. By crafting a surreal aesthetic, the distorted reflections might evoke an almost dreamlike atmosphere, where the lines between reality and fantasy blur, leading to a suspension of disbelief.
