Note / After the artist made the final selection of works for her Vienna Secession exhibition in 1996, she noticed her choice of four works that were consecutively dated from 1992 to 1995. Based on this fact she made a graphic work that was added as a fifth work.
The image of the white dates on a black background gives the impression of five successive film frames. Film, and the film loop in particular, is a medium with which Van Warmerdam has been causing a stir since the early 1990s.
In 1999 Daniel Birnbaum called her the "Loop Guru" of her generation in an extensive article by Frieze Magazine.
