Lotte van Lieshout (1978) often literally exposes herself to examine her relationship to the world. For example, she paints herself naked, crouching above reflective water or above an image of a mythical bird to reflect on her identity and origin.
Here she has pictured herself with friend and fellow artist Anne Geene. Both with their legs in the air they carry a green snake. The snake is a recurring motive in the work of Lotte van Lieshout.
