Madonna 28 is originally a painting from Christie van der Haak's series of Madonnas from 1984. The Madonnas are partially covered with patterns. Ornament is a constant in Christie van der Haak's paintings, her break through was in 1984 with these madonnas, when she was represented by Galerie Riekje Swart and museum directors such as Frans Haks and Rudi Fuchs bought her work for the Groninger Museum and Van Abbemuseum. From 2003, Christie van der Haak gradually switches from painting to designing patterns for wall hangings, wallpaper and furniture fabrics.
Madonna 28 has been given an additional yellow pattern on the corners of this print on dibond which is covered with a layer of epoxy. The panel in this photo hangs on a wallpaper designed by Christie van der Haak that can be supplied with the panel at an additional cost.
