KLAAS KLOOSTERBOER, 08106, 2008
Between circa 2003-2006 Klaas Kloosterboer raked, sprayed and threw paint on canvas. Also wooden sculptures such as scaffold, coffin and trough could not escape his blobs of thrown oil paint. He often hangs objects or large clownish suits on the ceiling and wall, made from what were real abstract large canvases from a few years before. The human being as an abstract present and the action as a past act were always central, with Klaas Kloosterboer not shying away from cutting up an already made canvas to make a new work from it. His actions are planned, short and powerful.
In 2008 Klaas Kloosterboer showed on a long wall in Galerie van Gelder six spray paintings that were hidden behind a curtain. Upon entering, during a conversation, if it suited the gallery owner or his assistant, the curtain was pushed aside to show the paintings.
