Flor Lickens:
We live in a world where everything is geared towards efficiency and optimisation. Where you can solve any problem with an app and even subscribe to razor blades. Perhaps that is what fascinates us about machines: their undiscovered potential and their implicit potential to improve our lives. Dutch artist Willem Harbers turns it around, slowing down and impeding the process of acceleration and improvement. His 'machines' offer a refreshing look at dysfunctionallity and, by extension, imperfection. He stimulates your imagination and at the same time causes a deep alienation.
