John M Armleder: 'This is one of the sculptures of my exhibition at Kees van Gelder in Amsterdam in 1988. A silent practice drum set that does not disturb the sleep of the neighbors was placed in front of a horizontal canvas. It was suspended so low that the instrument stood visually in the field of view of the canvas, like a plane against a surface. The painting is poisonous (almost fluorescent) with two lilac bands at the ends.'
