Recently Peter Vos started a series of paintings of young women holding a bird on their hand. Their appearance and expression varies from soft and dreamy to harsh and alert. The girl's dress and headscarf are covered with a pattern of pointed shapes. They are an echot of the hawk's angular beak and crest and the girl's sharply defined eyes and eyebrows. Her right eye is larger than the other and leads your gaze to the stern looking head of the hawk.
