Sideway Scenery III
Also in this installation we see three elements contradicting and strengthening each other. Dominant the roe-buck that shows in its gesture beauty and vulnerability. The animal lays like a trophy and accusation in one. The roe-buck reminds us of Saint-Sebastian, the Roman Martyr who resurrected from his wounds and died again. The geometers sticks in opposite range new territory - another highway to build - and are numb for what takes play. And then the poetry, with a touch of science the handwritten strophe in red neon by Lou Reed: First came fire then came light/Then came feeling then came sight.
These three elements intertwine and weave us a riddle. This is an obsessive constellation. The roe-buck perished, the sticks diminish the world and then there is mourning in a hint of progression: fire, light, feeling, sight.
Sight needs more than seeing. Feeling seems pain, but always contains a psychical component, an individual meaning. Light has many varieties and dimensions. Fire is the essence.
What did the stag see before dying in the dirty verge? And was the driver hitting the roe listening to the music of Lou Reed?
And again: all stands still now, to be repeated, to go on.
