Raquel Maulwurf, The Carbon Cleansing, 2020
Installation, coal, steel bathtub, 65 x 180 x 80 cm
The main theme in the 2019 Venice Biennial was climate change. A topic Raquel Maulwurf featured prominently in her 2017 solo exhibition The Carbon War Room at Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.
The title The Carbon War Room originates from Sir Richard Branson’s foundation which addresses carbon emissions and climate change with the urgency of a ‘War Room’, like in WW II.
This installation 'The Carbon Cleansing', reflects that there is no easy fix to clean up our carbon emissions crisis.
