Madelon Uljee’s work originates from her fascination with the elements and the remarkable details found in nature. She explores how nature is constantly moving, changing and reinventing itself.
While the Drops series captures the delicate moment of falling raindrops, After the Storm presents nature in a more powerful state: the energy of a storm. Leaves are torn from branches and carried by the wind, while the tree itself gathers strength, preparing for new growth and another bloom.
Uljee translates these fleeting moments into sculptural works using leather and other tactile materials. In doing so, she transforms something temporary and unpredictable into a tangible and lasting form.
Her work centres on the moment between destruction and renewal: the wildness and vulnerability of nature, and its remarkable ability to begin again.
