Cortecce means bark.
In this series of works by Fettolini, the association with tree bark comes to the fore. It is as if you are looking at an incredibly large piece of tree bark that is straight, not round. Yet Fettolini’s work is abstract, focusing on form and rhythm, and arises from experimentation. For this series, just like the ‘Veto’ series, ink and paper are used; by working with them whilst they are very wet and then ‘stretching’ them onto canvas, the pattern is created.
