Karen van de Vliet creates layered abstract paintings in which colour, transparency and material become central elements. Working with mixed media, she builds sculptural surfaces that shift between painting and object, allowing forms to emerge and occasionally extend beyond the canvas.
Her contemporary artworks explore the relationship between colour, space and perception. Through transparency, density and gesture, each painting remains open and in motion, revealing new layers over time and encouraging a sense of curiosity and play.
