DAVID KLOOSTERBOER, Rush to Float, 2026
In "Rush to Float", David Kloosterboer uses a sleeping pillow as a machine for image production. Resting his head on a pillow, he conjures up images by speaking random words. It's similar to a dream, where images emerge spontaneously. During the opening he surrendered himself to the sleeping pillow and recited words that came to mind.
The owner (in spe) may use this art work-with-sleeping-pillow to create his own images.
In drawings, texts, and installations, David Kloosterboer has previously created work that references sleep-wake and ghosts, as was shown in his solo exhibition "Grabbelton en kiezels" ('Scramble box and pebbles') in 2025 at Galerie van Gelder. Sleep is important to him.
