Monochrome simply means painting in one colour. However, there exist as many types of monochrome abstractions as there are monochrome abstract painters. Marc Angeli has been exploring the art of painting for over forty years. Since 1986 he has been painting, either with or without multiple layers of colours on wood, usually in a small or very small format. He utilises his monochrome technique to produce organic paintings using materials found in nature. He employs wine, pollen, rabbit skin glue, natural pigments, olive oil, milk, honey, beeswax, spices such as turmeric and saffron, occasionally animal blood and in the past he sometimes used rice.
