Anne van As (b. 1959, The Hague) is an Amsterdam based artist. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen and graduated cum laude from both ABK Minerva and the Breitner Academy at the Amsterdam University of the Arts.
Van As is deeply inspired by the natural world—its expansive landscapes, remote mountain ranges, delicate flora, and elusive wildlife. Yet, in her imagery, humanity is conspicuously absent. Her paintings and drawings evoke a sense of stillness and solitude, often cloaked in a soft, atmospheric haze. This dreamlike aesthetic transforms nature into a place of memory—fleeting, unreachable, and tinged with longing. The result is a body of work that feels both haunting and contemplative, hovering between the real and the remembered.
